The Widows’ and Orphans’ Aid Association of the San Francisco Police Department held their monthly meeting via zoom technology on Tuesday April 13, 2021. The meeting commenced at 1200 hours.
Roll Call: President Allyn Luenow, Vice President Rob Forneris, Secretary Mark McDonough, Treasurer Dean Taylor, Trustees Lou Barberini, Ryan Walsh, Leroy Lindo, Ray Kane, and James O’Meara, and Administrative Assistant Sally Foster were present.
Approval of the minutes: Trustee Ryan Walsh Made a motion to accept the minutes from our March 2021 meeting. Trustee Ray Kane seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Receiving Applications; Suspensions and Reinstatements: There are no new membership applications. Trustee Ray Kane will respond to the San Francisco Police Academy to present the WOAA Membership to the 273rd Recruit Class, on June 23, 2021. Yearly dues must be paid by March 31st, by 2359 hours. Treasurer Taylor provided the list of unpaid members to President Luenow. President Luenow, by authority of Article III, Section 3, declared the following unpaid members as suspended of all rights and privileges from the Widows’ and Orphans’ Aid Association of the San Francisco Police Department: Jose Andrade, Colby Austin (resigned his membership), Christian Bowman (A), Glenn Brakel (A), Andrew Bryant, Todd Burks, Kenneth Canedo, Alvin Chan, Telma Chicas-Miranda (A), Justin Clayton, Gabrielle Colby, David Connell, Michael Davis II, Barbra Dullea (A), Scott Dumont, Karen Ferretti, Adam Foltz, Deborah Gizdich, John Grabbe, Anthony Graziano, Oliver Guernsey, Anthony Halligan, Thomas Haymond, Micah Hope, Tom Jancovich, Darius Jones, Gavin Kundert, Steven Lee, Candiece Lewis, Stephanie Long, Thomas Lyons (A), Megan Macaulay, Lucas Malatesta, Ralph Mannina, Robert Moore, Jeffrey Ospital, Carlos Padilla III, David Raney, Seth Riskin, Mark Roan, Eric Robinson, Mazi Sadiki (A), Edward Schuldt, Josh Tiumalu (A), Andy Ting, Chad Tomasulo-Campos, Ryan Vail (resigned), William Van Laak, James White, Alfred K. Wong,. All the listed suspended members can be reinstated by paying the yearly dues of $100.00, and the late fee of $10 per month per each month of suspension. A suspended member will be dropped from our roll if we do not receive dues and fines payment by August 31st, at 2359 hours. Suspension letters will be sent by U.S. Mail to all the listed suspended members. Please accept our apology if you sent your dues and fines payment after I sent this document to publication.
Communications and Bills: Treasure Taylor read aloud the monthly bills and beneficiary claims. In addition to the regular monthly bills, we received beneficiary clams for recently deceased members Ronald Dinslage, Steve Driskoll, Anthony J. Hartzer, Tim Quan, Victor Silveira, and James Skinner. Trustee Leroy Lindo made a motion to pay the bills and beneficiary claims. Trustee Ray Kane seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Report of Visiting Committee: Due to Covid-19 restrictions there has been no memorial service visitations.
Report of Trustees: Bruce Macdonald, age 77: Bruce Stephen Macdonald was born on January 20, 1944, in Alameda, California. Bruce grew up in Mill Valley, California, and graduated from Tamalpias High School class of 61. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Bruce later earned an Associate’s Degree in business from City College of San Francisco. Bruce worked in “Retail” prior to his Law Enforcement career. Bruce joined the San Francisco Police Department on March 16, 1970. Bruce was assigned to Star #1267, and worked the following assignments during his 30-year career: Southern Police Station (July 19, 1970), Ingleside Police Station (July 6, 1977), Co. K/ Admin (June 13, 1984), FOB (August 3, 1991), Special Operations (January 18, 1992), Co. K/ Admin (August 22, 1992), Southern Police Station (July 31,1993), FOB (May 11, 2000). Bruce retired with a Service Pension on June 28, 2000. After retirement Bruce pursued his love of golf and his Harley, joining the Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club with whom he rode in many charity rallies. Bruce loved the outdoors. He grew up duck hunting in Mill Valley with his brother Douglas. He enjoyed camping with his family every summer. Together, they visited many National and State Parks throughout the Western United States. For the past 15 years, Bruce made significant changes in his life and was able to help many people through his involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous. Bruce is survived by his daughter Monica (active S.F.P.D.), son Frank, and his brother Douglas.
